Junior Program
Our program has been based on what the Newark Ambulance Jr.
program has had well established for several years now.
The basic premise is this:
As they go through time (certain number of months of active membership in good standing.)
- attend meetings, and activities,
- complete KWLA's (What I know, what I want to know, what I learned, and my affective response -how I feel about the topic),
- Complete a certain number of notations on their training records at certain levels -meaning from with assistance to independently. They gain "points" and move their way up the ranking system. From a Junior Member, Private, Private first class, Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, Sergeant first class, Master Sergeant, First Sergeant, and finally Sergeant Major. (This would be completing at least 2 1/2 years.)
The ultimate goal is to get kids involved in their communities, work on emergency response, and possibly have future adult volunteers that are actual trained EMT's.
